Waterbury, VT – On Friday, the Vermont Department of Corrections issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) from parties seeking to provide health services to the state’s incarcerated population. This is the latest development in the Department’s continued effort to best align internal health services with the community standard of care and adapt to the changing healthcare landscape.
“The Vermont Department of Corrections is striving to provide the very best healthcare possible to those in our care and custody at the community standard of care,” said Commissioner Nicholas J. Deml. “We need to adjust our services and update our contract to reflect the new realities of healthcare in Vermont as we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure we are responsive to the physical and mental health needs of our incarcerated population. Provision of these services are some of the most important aspects of our work.”
The RFP will close on August 31, 2022. The planned date for the new contract is July 1, 2023.
