Waterbury, VT – The Vermont Department of Corrections today announced the death of Gary Partridge, an incarcerated individual at Southern State Correctional Facility (SSCF).
Gary Partridge, 54, of Chicopee, Massachusetts, had been incarcerated since 2015. On September 17, correctional and medical staff responded to his living unit to provide medical care in response to an acute medical event. Medical staff called for Emergency Medical Services. Mr. Partridge was transported to Springfield Hospital at 22:23 hours, and was pronounced deceased at 22:53 hours.
Mr. Partridge’s death does not appear suspicious at this time. The Department notified the Defender General’s Prisoners’ Rights Office and Vermont State Police of the death per state law and protocol. The DOC Corrections Investigative Unit will also review the fatality according to departmental policy.
