Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion to Ensure a Just System

Operating a just system means interacting with every individual with dignity and respect, regardless of identity or background. Historically, the justice system perpetuated inequities in society. Today, we recognize this fact and actively work to counter inequities. As correctional professionals, each of us has the responsibility and opportunity to change culture and policy through our work.

Through the JEDI priority, we will advance diverse, equitable, and inclusive practices into all that we do to achieve a just corrections system.

Staff recognize and appreciate the daily impact of identity and why JEDI is vital to our success.

The Department's systems, structural environment, policies and procedures are informed by trauma-informed practices, JEDI principles, and individuals with lived experience within the criminal justice system.

Supervision, programs, and intervention services reflect the diverse needs of the people we serve.

JEDI-responsive principles are embedded into all Department processes and retention efforts to equitably serve every staff member.
