Waterbury, VT – The Vermont Department of Corrections (DOC) is conducting internal administrative and medical reviews following the death of an incarcerated individual on Tuesday.
David Boglioli, 73, of Wilmington, Vt., died at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) in Lebanon, New Hampshire, on Tuesday afternoon. As of December 2022, Mr. Boglioli was housed at the Southern State Correctional Facility (SSCF) infirmary in Springfield, Vt. He was admitted to DHMC on February 21.
Vermont DOC notified Vermont State Police and the Defender General’s Prisoners’ Rights Office of the death per state law and protocol. Due to the location of the death, the Lebanon Police Department was also notified. The Vermont DOC Peer Support Team is available for SSCF staff.
The circumstances surrounding Mr. Boglioli’s death are not considered suspicious at this time. He was serving a sentence of 10 to 15 years for Manslaughter.
