During October, 2006, the Bennington State Office Complex employees were notified that they were going to have to move from their worksites, out of the state complex, due to possible hazards in the building.  After a site visit from Governor Douglas and Secretary Smith in January, 2007, it was decided that the relocation of all occupants of the state building was to begin immediately.

John Cook made himself and his work crew(s) available to B.G.S. to help with this move.  In doing so, he was instrumental in the renovations of the DOC modular units, removing damaged material, working with construction crews to rebuild the units.  He and his crews moved all items from the "sick" building, through the "clean rooms" then onto the final destinations; including court records, juvenile records, as well as DOC records while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and security.   When the workload was more than his crew could accomplish, John coordinated with other area work crews to join in to meet the necessary deadlines.

Through all of this, John still kept up with his daily work records and scheduling.  He was able to organize his crews, prioritize never ending demands on his time, and be at two places at once and never losing his focus.  Presently, John and his crew are working diligently in the Northern Units, to expedite the return of the remaining displaced state employees to a unified site.
