There is a lot of magic that happens at Dale, in the little things and the big things.
The population we deal with at Dale is the most difficult population of inmates in the state of Vermont. They are needier and more damaged than most of their male counterparts. We give them accountability without judgment or punishment. Dale inmates know that if they say, "Can I talk to you?", to any staff person, that person will say, "Yes, sure." That is huge for most of these women. This culture of caring and support gets reinforced every day, in all kinds of ways.
Dale staff and volunteers consistently go above and beyond the usual expectations for their position. This is true across the board - security staff, caseworkers, treatment providers, education, recreation, volunteer services, and administration.. The world of DOC is one of constant change, inmates coming and going every day, changinging needs and issues, and frequent policy changes. Our staff takes on all of these challenges with open mindedness and enthusiasm.
